He goes still again, but he doesn't move away as she slinks her way into his lap and melts into him like a slow-moving wave. His hands move to her back as if drawn by a magnet, fingers brushing at her shoulder blades and sliding down to rest at the small of her back. She's like liquid heat against him, and a part of him wants to throw all caution to the winds.

"I think you know I want nothing more," he whispers, closing his eyes when she finally looks away from him, "but I can't risk...while you're still human, I can't risk anything...unexpected." He tips his head to the side, baring his throat to her lips. He hadn't wanted to bring this up, especially not right now, but it isn't right to refuse her without telling her the real reason why.
